The Index Downtown Indy Visitors Center Features Souvenirs from Local Producers and Museums, Indy Attraction Passes
August 9, 2024 (INDIANAPOLIS) 鈥� Indy鈥檚 new official visitors center, The Index, is officially open for business.
The NBA All-Star version of The Index opened in February and was focused solely on basketball history.聽 It is now reopened to feature gifts and information on the city鈥檚 major cultural attractions and serves as an Indianapolis visitor center. Its shop includes a dynamic selection of souvenirs in mini-collections from:
- The Children鈥檚 Museum of Indianapolis
- Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art
- Indiana Historical Society
- Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
The Index also offers locally produced and handmade goods and .聽 Attraction Passes allow users to pay one low price for admission to seven of the Indy’s top attractions including The Children鈥檚 Museum of Indianapolis, Indiana Historical Society and Eiteljorg Museum.
The Capital Improvement Board (CIB) recruited Amanda Mauer to start up and manage The Index after hearing calls from event planners and guests at CIB venues for a local information resource and souvenir hub. Mauer owned and operated the Homespun: Modern Handmade shop on Mass Ave. for 13 years and as a result, has a vast network of artisans and retail contacts that have been valuable in establishing The Index.聽 鈥淥ur visitors told us they want a place to see what Indy has to offer, and to find a little piece of Indy to take home with them,鈥� said CIB Executive Director Andy Mallon.聽 鈥淭he Index provides visitors and residents with a taste of Indy鈥檚 amazing attractions and culture.鈥�
The Index is located across the street from the 糖心传媒鈥檚 main entrance.聽 It is open to the public from 10 a.m. 鈥� 6 p.m. Thursday鈥揗onday聽and resident experts will be on hand to provide visitor assistance and recommendations. Find The Index on Instagram at
